Ariel was the youngest of the seven daughters of Triton, the powerful ruler of the undersea kingdom of Atlantica and by extension the entire ocean.  Not content with the doting attention of her father and siblings and a life of palace concerts, Ariel was given to exploration and inevitably discovered--and became obsessed with--the surface world.  Her father, having seen the destruction the land-dwelling humans had wreaked on his kingdom, was enraged and forbade further contact, but Ariel knew the evils Triton hated was not universal, and, risking everything defied him, sought out the man, and eventually married him.  However, just as her father eventually learned not all humans were evil, Ariel discovered not all humans were good either, and soon vowed to use her unique position a royal in both worlds to protect each one from the evils of the others.  When she heard about Cinderella's OPS team, she volunteered to be it aquatic operations specialist.  She now divides her time between taking over or blowing up ships that threaten the ocean realm, and rescuing sailors from attacks by rogue denizens of the sea.

"Training Ariel in demolitions and commando operations has proven to be a double edged sword.  She's headstrong, impulsive, and willing to take on just about any risk to accomplish her objectives.  While this undeniably has led to a high success level on her missions, it also makes her very difficult to work with in the context of a team.  While very friendly when off duty, she tends to prefer to work alone. Few things are more dangerous than telling The Trident she can't do something."

At last--the return of Disney Ops.  Ariel is my favorite princess, and of course her specialty was pretty much a no brainer.
